Boat tours to Carloforte and Sant'Antioco
half day - afternoon
Designed for you who are looking for the sea, the silence, the unique nature of Sardinia

The afternoon boat tours lasts three hours and typically includes two stops. See the list of possible itineraries.
Snorkeling
The fleet is equipped with all the safety and rescue equipment to make your boat trip pleasant and peaceful at all times.
There's no shortage of accessories for exploring the seabed with a snorkeling trip: fins and masks are at your disposal and are sanitized after each boat trip.
In general, the best spots for snorkeling and fish watching are those where sandy seabeds alternate with rocks and meadows of Neptune grass, because these are ideal places for fish to feed, reproduce, and seek refuge from predators.
The most favourable stops for this aspect are La Mezzaluna , full of coastal ravines, Le Spine with its varied underwater landscape dotted with emerging rocks and La Tonnara , a passage point between the islands of San Pietro and Piana.
Among the most common species encountered are saddled bream , white sea bream, common wrasse, terns, salema, and damselfish. Occasional sightings of octopus, cuttlefish, sole, gilt-head bream, and young sea bass are also common.
Aperitif on board
During the boat tour, the captain will be pleased to choose a calm and sheltered cove and prepare a refreshing aperitif on deck, with snacks and the renowned wines of the Sulcis islands. A special moment to conclude your perfect tour exploring this incredible corner of southern Sardinia.
P.S. The aperitif menu may vary depending on the season.
The boat experience: 3 hours, 2 stops, 2 swims
Afternoon boat tours in the Sulcis archipelago are designed for those seeking the tranquility of the cooler hours of the day, when daylight bathes the cliffs and softly illuminates the marvelous bays of this corner of southern Sardinia.
Each excursion will provide you with unforgettable memories, and we are certain that the images of these beaches, cliffs, and clear waters will remain etched in your memory forever.
We offer itineraries that include stops only along the coast of Carloforte (San Pietro Island), only along the coast of Calasetta (Sant'Antioco Island), or a combination of both islands, depending on weather conditions. Sea and wind influence our navigation, and our captain, with his thirty years of experience on these routes, selects the most suitable excursion to ensure maximum comfort on board.
In San Pietro, possible stops include the shallows of Isola Piana, near the famous Carloforte tuna fishery, where the boat anchors on a shallow, sandy seabed, perfect for snorkeling. To the west, you'll find Giunco and Guidi beaches, where a stretch of crystal-clear turquoise water offers numerous rest stops.
Lucchese (Lûcaise in Tabarchino) is one of our favorite destinations. In a wide bay with a seabed less than two meters deep, it opens up to a stretch of sea ideal for unforgettable swims. Surrounded by schools of fish such as saddled bream and small damselfish, you can reach the unmissable sea caves that open up in the white cliffs with just a few strokes.
La Bobba, Carloforte's most renowned beach, is a jewel nestled between two wide rocky outcrops covered in Mediterranean scrub. It's one of the best stops for both snorkeling and a refreshing aperitif served on board by the captain. The natural monument, Le Colonne, is also worth a visit, at least for photography. These are two ignimbrite monoliths rising up to 16 meters into the air. Unfortunately, the smaller one collapsed in a storm in 2013, and now only its base can be admired.
The last stop in San Pietro is the majestic 20-meter-high Mezzaluna cliff. The boat passes right under the coast and then stops in front of the famous Mezzaluna caves, which, according to ancient fishermen's tales, were frequented by monk seals in ancient times.
On the island of Sant'Antioco, the first stop is Sottotorre. This beautiful beach, very close to the center of Calasetta, takes its name from the 18th-century Savoy tower that dominated the coast for five hundred years, guarding against Barbary pirates. To the west lies La Salina beach, so named for the shallow, salty lagoon that extends behind it. The shallow waters just offshore are sandy and perfect for swimming.
The silhouette of the ancient Calasetta tuna fishery, with its elegant terracotta tower, characterizes Spiaggia Grande, the largest beach on the northern coast of Sant'Antioco Island. Snorkeling excursions here are unforgettable, thanks to the seabed that alternates sand, seagrass meadows, and rare rocky stretches.
Important: The itineraries listed are only a rough outline and are not binding. The route is chosen and adjusted by the captain based on weather conditions to ensure comfort and safety.

The boat experience
Afternoon boat tours in the Sulcis archipelago are designed for those seeking the calm of the cooler hours of the day, when daylight softens the cliffs and gently lights up the beautiful bays of this corner of southern Sardinia. Each boat tour offers unforgettable memories, and we are sure that the images of these beaches, cliffs, and crystal-clear waters will stay with you forever. We offer itineraries that may include stops along the coast of Carloforte (San Pietro Island), along the coast of Calasetta (Sant’Antioco Island), or a combination of both islands, depending on weather conditions. On San Pietro Island, possible stops include the Isola Piana shallows, near the famous Carloforte tuna fishery, where the boat anchors on a shallow sandy seabed, perfect for snorkeling. To the west, you will find Giunco and Guidi beaches, where turquoise, crystal-clear waters offer plenty of sheltered spots for swimming. Lucchese (Lûcaise in the local Tabarchino dialect) is one of our favorite stops. In a wide bay with shallow waters of less than two meters, you can enjoy unforgettable swims in a calm, crystal-clear sea. Surrounded by schools of fish such as saddled bream and small damselfish, you can reach the unmissable sea caves carved into the white cliffs with just a few strokes. The last stop on San Pietro Island is the impressive Mezzaluna cliff, about 20 meters high. The boat sails close to the coastline before stopping in front of the famous Mezzaluna caves, which, according to old fishermen’s stories, were once visited by the Mediterranean monk seal. On Sant’Antioco Island, the first stop is Sottotorre. This beautiful beach, very close to the center of Calasetta, takes its name from the 18th-century Savoy tower that has guarded the coastline for centuries against Barbary pirate raids. To the west lies La Salina beach, named after the shallow brackish lagoon behind it. The offshore seabed is sandy and shallow, ideal for a relaxing swim. The profile of the old Calasetta tuna fishery, with its elegant terracotta tower, overlooks Spiaggia Grande, the largest beach on the northern coast of Sant’Antioco Island. Here, snorkeling is truly unforgettable, thanks to seabeds that alternate between sand, seagrass meadows of Posidonia oceanica, and occasional rocky areas. Please note: the itineraries described above are only sample routes and are not binding. The final route is chosen and adjusted by the captain based on weather conditions to ensure comfort and safety.

The stages of the boat tour to Carloforte

Calasetta, the port
We leave the harbor of this small white town in the morning. From the sea, you can clearly see the bell towers of the Church of San Maurizio and the famous Savoy tower.

Giunco, the beach
Giunco is a long beach on Carloforte backed by a fertile plain. The shallow, emerald-colored waters make it perfect for a safe swim, even for children.

Guidi, the cove
Cala Guidi (Guidi Cove) is known for its crystal-clear waters that, seen from its golden sandy beach, seem to stretch endlessly toward the horizon. It is a corner of paradise just a few kilometers from the village of Carloforte, ideal to visit by boat.

La Bobba, the beach
La Bobba, nestled in a beautiful bay, is one of the most famous beaches on San Pietro Island, known for its fine sand and turquoise, transparent waters.

Le Colonne, the monument
Of the two monumental volcanic rocks that once rose like columns from the sea until 2013, only one remains, standing 16 meters tall, while the second collapsed under stormy waves. Legend has it that they were two sea monsters turned to stone by Saint Peter to protect the island.

Lûcaise, the bay
Between Bobba Beach and the small islet of Geniò lies a beautiful bay, set between light volcanic cliffs, which is home to Lucchese Beach (Lûcaise). The beach is characterized by coarse sand and shallow, crystal-clear waters.

La Mezzaluna the cliff
Mezzaluna is a volcanic cliff over 20 meters high, famous for its natural crescent shape forming a striking cove full of small inlets and caves. It is particularly impressive when viewed from the sea.

The Carloforte tuna fishery and Piana Island
This is a fantastic option for its scenic beauty, with shallow, transparent sandy seabeds stretching between Isola Piana and the historic tuna fishery of Carloforte, easily recognizable by the old buildings along the coast. This stop is not always included, but it may be added when time and sea conditions are favorable.

Sottotorre, the beach of Calasetta
This is Calasetta’s town beach, often reached by locals and tourists with a pleasant walk from the historic center. An ancient Savoy tower keeps watch over the beautiful sandy shore and the small bay with turquoise waters.

The beach and the salt pan
A beautiful sea, a white sandy beach, and thriving prickly juniper trees growing along the dunes. This is one of our favorite stops for a swimming break or for enjoying an aperitif at anchor.

The beach and the tuna fishery
A historic site and a large white sandy beach adorn this open, sunny bay. The old Calasetta tuna fishery is no longer active, but its red tower stands as a beacon over the crystalline waters. A must-visit for swimming and snorkeling.

The lighthouse
Perhaps the most famous lighthouse in the Sulcis archipelago, a small gem standing strong against storms on the tiny Mangiabarche islet, just a few hundred meters from Calasetta’s coast. We approach it closely for sightseeing and photos. It’s also a perfect spot for a quick snorkeling session.
